Drama

Drama

Drama and performance are a vibrant and valued part of life at The Cavendish School. Through productions, performances and public speaking opportunities, girls develop confidence, creativity, teamwork and self-expression from an early age. Every pupil is encouraged to participate, take creative risks and enjoy the experience of performing in a supportive and enthusiastic environment.

Throughout the year, all year groups take part in musical and dramatic performances, with productions held at the end of the Autumn and Spring Terms. These events give girls the opportunity to develop performance skills, collaborate creatively and celebrate their learning with the wider school community.

Early Years Performances

Reception and Nursery pupils perform a much-loved annual Christmas Nativity, introducing even our youngest girls to the joy of storytelling, music and performing in front of an audience.

Year 4 Productions

Year 4 pupils stage a dedicated annual production, allowing girls to take on acting, singing and performance roles while building confidence and teamwork. Previous productions have included Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz and shows inspired by the work of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Year 6 Leavers’ Production

At the end of their time at The Cavendish School, Year 6 pupils present a major end-of-year production during the Summer Term. This is a particularly special part of the girls’ final year and leavers celebrations and encourages independence, leadership and collaboration.

Girls are actively involved in all aspects of the production process, including set design, lighting, costumes and script development, creating a truly pupil-led theatrical experience. Previous productions have included Matilda, Mary Poppins and The Lion King.

SHINE Presentations

During the Summer Term, pupils across the school host SHINE sessions for parents, sharing and celebrating their learning from the year. These presentations may include drama, music, French and creative performance elements, allowing girls to communicate their ideas with confidence and individuality.

LAMDA

LAMDA lessons and examinations are offered as part of the school’s co-curricular programme through an after-school club. Usually taking place in June, LAMDA supports the development of communication, public speaking and performance skills, helping girls build confidence both on stage and beyond.
