Pastoral Care
We pride ourselves on – and are recognised by our parents for – providing outstanding pastoral care.
A Nurturing and Supportive Environment
At The Cavendish School, outstanding pastoral care lies at the heart of everything we do. We believe girls thrive academically, socially and emotionally when they feel happy, secure and genuinely known as individuals.
Knowing Every Girl as an Individual
Small class sizes and strong staff-pupil relationships allow teachers to understand and support each child personally. Girls feel comfortable approaching trusted adults, knowing they will be listened to with care and respect.
Building Confidence and Resilience
Through PSHE lessons, daily interactions and wider school experiences, girls are encouraged to develop independence, resilience and empathy. They learn to take managed risks, reflect on challenges positively and develop confidence in their own voice and decision-making.
Pupil Leadership and Wellbeing
Pupils are encouraged to contribute actively to the wellbeing of the school community through positions of responsibility such as House Captain and Wellbeing Champion. These opportunities help girls develop leadership skills, compassion and a strong sense of community.
Partnership with Families
Our experienced pastoral team works closely with families to support girls through all aspects of school life, whether encouraging positive learning behaviours or helping pupils navigate friendships, worries or changes at home. By addressing concerns early and sensitively, we create a secure and joyful environment in which girls flourish.
Meet Dexter, Our School Dog
A much-loved member of the school community, Dexter, our calm and gentle school dog, is always on hand for companionship, comfort and the occasional cuddle.
