Nursery Admissions 3+
Girls can join our Nursery from the age of three, and remain with us until their successful transfer to senior school aged 11.
The Nursery Day
We are flexible: wraparound care is available for an extended day, you can do mornings only, full days or a mixture to suit your needs.
We ask all girls to attend Nursery five mornings a week, these morning sessions include specialist teaching and lunch; afternoon sessions are optional and run to 3.25 at the close of the normal school day. After this time, Nursery children are welcome to join After School Care, which is run by Early Years teaching staff who know the girls well and are able to provide continuity of care. After School Care provides wraparound care up to 6pm four days a week, and 5.30 on Fridays and can be booked regularly or ad-hoc eg when parents have unexpected commitments.
Nursery children are also able to travel to and from school on our bus, which has 4 stops in the Islington area.
The Nursery follows the term times of the main school; however Nursery children are welcome to join in the holiday camps which take place in our premises during the school vacations thus providing a safe and stimulating setting throughout the year.
Facilities
Our Nursery benefits from two very large purpose-built classroom spaces as well as a big dedicated outside space with playground and garden, bikes and a mud kitchen, shared with Reception. Children eat delicious, healthy lunches in our dining hall, have PE lessons and ballet in our gym, outdoor sports court and performing arts hall. In addition to the expert Nursery teaching staff, girls are lucky enough to be taught by specialist teachers in French, sport and music.
Transition at 4+
Our Nursery is the perfect stepping stone to The Cavendish School. Early Years staff get to know the Nursery girls very well, which, together with the girls’ familiarity with the people and place, helps ensure a smooth transition into the first year of school in Reception from the September after a girl turns four.
