Starting school is a milestone filled with excitement, curiosity, and possibility. At The Cavendish School, Reception marks the moment your daughter steps into a nurturing, inspiring environment where she is known, encouraged, and celebrated from the very first day.

Each September, pupils join the girls progressing from our Nursery, forming a vibrant and welcoming Reception cohort. From these early years through to their senior school transfer at age 11, our pupils grow into confident, capable learners who feel at home in our community.

When to join Reception?

Girls join Reception in the September following their 4th birthday. Our carefully structured early years programme ensures a smooth transition from Nursery to Reception, whether your daughter is already part of our school or joining us for the first time.

Our Admissions Approach

We are a non‑selective school, and we welcome applications from all families who feel our environment is the right fit for their daughter. Reception places are offered in the order that completed registrations are received, so early registration is strongly encouraged.

This ensures a fair and transparent process for every applicant.

How to apply?

Securing a Reception place is simple:

• REGISTER your daughter to begin the admissions process.
• Offers are typically made around nine months before the start of the Autumn term, giving families ample time to prepare.
• We welcome in‑year applications at any time. If a place is available, we will accommodate you and your daughter swiftly and support her transition into the class.
